"Fantastic friendly service, characterful property and a pleasant change from a chain hotel. Not right in the centre but only a very safe 6-8min walk from Minster, shops, restaurants etc… Breakfast was outstanding and good value at £16 for juice, coffee, pastry, yogurt and fruit and Eggs Benedict. Full English a bit more, lighter options from £11. Quite a lot of parking outside at £15 a night (good for York) but it’s very tight & I’d advise contacting them to reserve a place. I got the last one right at the back and it was a real squeeze. Only negative for me was my twin room (124) had a skylight but no pole to close the blind. Hence my room was flooded with light from 5am. Reception were apologetic when I mentioned it."

Lovely staff

"We stayed here for our 30th wedding anniversary trp. Staff were so lovely and really made us feel welcome. The bed however, was so uncomfy. It was a king room but the beds were two beds pushed together and there was a ridge down the middle which made it very uncomfortable and didn't get much sleep as we kept waking up. Other than that, I would definitely recommend this hotel. Close enough to the centre but also far enough to be out of the hustle and bustle. Thank you to the lovely staff who made our stay an enjoyable one to remember :)"
