"Beautiful old hotel. We had a superior room that was large enough for a super king sized bed plus two armchairs and a settee creating a relaxing area after a day in the city. Located right beside a canal with easy walking access of about 20 mins to most city centre attractions. Also in a good area for restaurants just 3 mins walk away. Hotel located on a tram line direct from Amsterdam Centraal station, Every member of hotel staff were courteous, friendly and helpful. Excellent breakfast worth the extra money. Would definitely recommend."

"This hotel has a customer hostile policy that readers need to know about. When the guest selects a temperature on the thermostat, the hotel will reset it back to 22C, regardless of the customer's wishes. This occurred several times each night we stayed in the hotel. I set the HVAC to 20C and the hotel, without asking, resets it to 22C and we wake up hot. On the 2nd morning of this happening, I asked the hotel about it (thinking the HVAC was malfunctioning) and they stated this is their policy. Indeed, they change the temperature in the middle of the night overriding the customer's wishes. I understand and expect hotels to have lower limits on HVAC temperature but I've never encountered a hotel that overrides the customer's desired temperature. It is customer hostile and potential guests need to know about this limitation, especially during the warmer months of summer. I hope Clayton Hotels reconsiders this terrible policy because I will never stay in another Clayton Hotel if this is expected."
