"My wife and I along with our 5 year old Grandson spent 4 great nights at Hotel Le Royal. Nice and quiet area, hardly any traffic passing by even though its in the centre of the city. We stayed here for 3 nights to attend the France v England rugby match at the OL stadium. The beds were comfortable, the towels changed regularly and the staff we encountered were friendly. "The hotel was situated very central in old town of Lyon, very close to many restaurants, sights, and tours. Rooms were snug, couple of the floors did not have elevator access. The bath towels were pretty low quality, might be our only complaint. AC worked really well so that’s a huge plus in France. Have to get your own water from the main floor, hopefully they have caps for the bottles as they did not when we stayed here. "

"A screw half hanging out of the bathroom wall and a dirty cracked sink were the real negatives. The rest of the room was clean enough but the cooling system did not work very well at all.
