"The Novotel is splendid choice in the Dongdaemun area depending on what you are looking for and how much you are interested in spending.
We booked a Premier Room in the Residence wing of the complex and were very pleased. There was a full kitchenette, a separate dining area, and a spacious seating area. The bedroom itself was enormous, as was the bath which featured an oversized shower stall and one of the largest bathtubs I have ever seen in all my years of travel. The room was fantastic.
We also enjoyed swimming laps in the indoor pool on the 20th floor and soaking in the hot tub up there after swimming. The indoor pool complex is very nice.
The only area for potential improvement I might identify is breakfast, which was somewhat above average but lacked any sort of flair. If they had some type of fresh fruit smoothie station, or a made to order breakfast wrap station or something like that, it might have given breakfast a "wow" factor. The most disappointing part about breakfast is that we were looking forward to trying some of the loose leaf local Korean hot tea, but there wasn't any to be had. All of the tea was in tea bags, which is absolutely no fun at all.
The only other thing to be aware of is that the front of the hotel faces the emergency room entrance to a medical center, so if blaring ambulance sirens aren't your thing, you may want to think about something elsewhere. Otherwise, this is an excellent property and we would stay here again. Recommended."
