"If it weren’t for the kindness of the host, who accommodated us for an early check-in and late checkout, I would’ve given this zero stars. It’s totally rundown, looks like it hasn’t been power washed in 20 years, as soon as you walk up it smells like mold. The listing doesn’t tell you that it’s on a main street. "Okay - speaking as the wife of a train buff, staying here as a birthday surprise was a no brainer. The question was - would I regret it? Is a vacay stay in a caboose comfortable or just kitschy? It was a blast. The grounds are gorgeous. The view? Clear Lake! What’s not to like? A fun pool on campus (with abundant floats - I was big on the giant pink flamingo) and access to stand up paddle boards and kayaks for the lake. Dock access to the lake is right across the street if lake sports are in your plan. Is there kitsch involved? OF COURSE there is, you signed up to sleep in a caboose! Each caboose has a theme which you can choose on their website when booking your stay. But it’s well planned with comfortable amenities, clean as can be with a wonderful and knowledgeable staff to guide your stay with food and activity recommendations. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. We stayed right after start of school which means it wasn’t packed and all there were adult. But it’s clear this place would be really fun for kids. I keep thinking with the plethora of cabooses (cabeese?), what a terrific locale for a family reunion or multi family get together. Max capacity, 27 guests. We will visit again."

"Very easy to communicate with Susan, and if you have an issue, she resolves it fast. Great access to the lake and the house was roomy. So glad it was dog friendly as we had our fur babies with us. Jacuzzi was nice in the evening… I recommend this place "

"Plenty of space for fun activities with a large group. We appreciated being able to co-exist with everyone in the living room. Host was transparent about everything and it made the experience feel relaxing."

"The spot is so wonderful with view and easy access to the lake. It’s very quiet. The house is on the older side, but is clean, well appointed, and contains everything you need for a small family. Being on the lake side, there was a distinct smell outside that can be unpleasant for those that are sensitive to smells. Our family enjoyed our stay."

"This house is part of a 'resort' type area where the very friendly owner has several properties includes houses, tiny homes and even a few RV spots I think. Anyways its a proper house - many of the amenities are just shared with the other properties. The house itself is very nice, well kept and designed. I think the outside of the properties could use some high pressure washing and regular pest control - would help the vibe a lot. The lake itself is very pretty to look at.... not great to get in given the state of the lake. One of the days was ok to get in (though still green), but the second day was not good at all. And the clothing sorta smelled not the best after. So I wouldn't recommend using this for a lake swim retreat which is a bit of a bummer. The town area around the lake also seems a bit depressed as well. We all did a lot of fishing from the dock which was great."
