"Room was awful. Dirty, broken window left open due to horrific smell. Sheets didn’t even cover mattress. Genuinely worst hotel room in 20 years. I asked to move rooms if poss and got refused at reception. Was so awful I got up and left at 3.30am"

"From check in to check out.I had a lovely stay. The hotel is really nice.I had an amazing sleep while there. The beds are very comfy. The breakfast on offer was really good, with cooked available. It was nice having a proper coffee maker at breakfast, so able to choose what you like.I would definitely stay again if in the area"

"The hotel comprises a lovely old main house, to which a large block of more functional 70s/80s rooms are attached. The room was clean and well equipped, although a little dated. The staff were friendly and welcoming although we did have to wait a bit for someone to appear when we checked in around 7pm. Breakfast was very good, with food cooked to order and presented well. A great location for the village, canal and access for great walking in the hills. Would stay again and recommend."

"Breakfast was excellent, the accommodation was dated and unkept. The stairs are very narrow and steep. The staff were quite indifferent and seemed to be occupied with other tasks. They ordered my taxi which was the best part of service."

"Pleasant 3rd stay here. Dinner was good pub grub but portions were too much for us. Many pubs now offer smaller meals as an option. Superior room was very good with all amenities supplied. It was mid April but the room was incredibly warm and we struggled to sleep. Windows wouldn’t open and wall thermostat was at zero. "

"Unfortunately this hotel was not what the photos highlighted. I appreciate it is an old building but it was very worn. The reception area was cold and the man on reception was only concerned about the wedding guest that were staying. Not helpful at all. Food was overpriced in the bar area. Cold dark and dingy is the only way to describe this place."
