Sandman Signature Sheffield Quays Hotel

8/10 Good

"Checking was straight forward and pleasant. The room was stylish and modern, unlike the dated exterior. Unfortunately the luxury element was destroyed by the amount of noisy children running around the public areas. There was apparently a dance competition the next day. We had a very strange experience in the bar when ordering a single JD& coke. The barman put a double in by mistake so he tipped an unknown quantity in the sink and filled the glass with coke. When I asked what he was doing he explained he had put too much in. I asked how he knew what measure he had given us?. He then tipped it all in the sink and started again!! Just bizarre. His collegue watched him do it. Both young lads. I reported to reception but they weren't interested. I also reported a faulty shower head but again, she didn't appear interested. No apology for either."

"An okay stay, room was a bit dated with some features irritating. The shower over the bath had a clasp which meant you could only get the head no lower than to around mid chest. All was ok and a cheap price you can’t expect much. That said we’ve stayed in one or two much more expensive but worse hotels."

"This hotel is awesome! Set in a great location. Everywhere was so clean. The room was perfect for a one night stay, with the amenities you require, all catered for. There is even a room adjacent to the lifts, for microwave or bottle warming. They really have thought of everything. Being required to tag in to gain access does give you a peace of mind that only guests may enter. In the morning for breakfast, you can not loan. A great selection of everything required for a long day of walking around the awesome zoo next door"

"The staff were particularly helpful. They were out of welcome cookies but told us to make sure to call back for them. Our request for a quieter room was accommodated. The room was immaculate, roomy and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom had both bath and shower. Faultless."

"The staff are always very pleasant and helpful, and check-in is smooth and friendly every time. Unfortunately, I’ve been disappointed with housekeeping on my last few stays. I’ve left the “Clean My Room” tag on the door when leaving in the morning, but returned to find the tag still there and the room untouched. I have mentioned this previously at reception, but sadly it doesn’t seem to have improved. Apart from this issue, I absolutely love staying here."
