I arrived at 3:30pm. There was only one member of staff visible on the front desk and he was having a nightmare time. The computer system was being very slow and the card machine wasn’t working. This meant that there was a queue of people waiting to check in. Once I had made it to my room, I saw it hadn’t been cleaned (unmade beds, litter on floor & desktop and full bins), I called down and spoke to the same man who was most apologetic. I asked if i could at least have some refreshments sent up as the tray was completely empty and he came up himself to bring me a coffee which I was most grateful for. It seems this man was doing the job of at least 4 people. My room was eventually cleaned whilst I was out at a concert. The room itself was very clean and the bed was comfortable.

What a fantastic room, newly decorated with new furnishings and a fabulous balcony which was unexpected. I regularly use hotels in Sheffield for work and this is by far the best for the room (being brand new it felt so clean). It will be my hotel of choice now when the restaurant opens. Yes, it was very annoying that we couldn’t just relax in the evening in the restaurant (closed for refurb) especially as my son had a broken foot which meant we couldn’t walk far to eat BUT they did give us directions to the nearest place for dinner (it wasn’t great but that’s not the fault of the hotel) and they did have drinks available to purchase at reasonable prices at reception. We could see the new bar and restaurant and it will clearly be fantastic when open. Breakfast was the usual food you expect, we asked for fruit as there was none available and a lovely big bowl of fresh fruit was brought to our table. This hotel will be great value for money once the refurb is fully finished. Just be aware it’s not in the middle of town!

Hotel under renovation at visit time…. No restaurant or room service! Room was quite hot, air conditioning would have made our stay complete.

We booked a junior suite and it was a lovely big room. It had a kettle, fridge and Nespresso coffee machine (new style pods). Lovely comfy bed, great shower, large bathroom. Stayed 3 nights while attending the Tramlines festival. Parking easy, £8 a night which was good rate. Used the leisure club for a swim, great looking gym available which I did not use. Overall a great stay. Few minor niggles, housekeeping kept running out of coffee pods and had to keep asking reception, fridge was very cold, froze the few bits we had in their, tried to alter the temperature but did not work. Feedback passed on to reception. Biggest issue and why only 3 stars is no air conditioning. We had windows that could be opened a fraction, and a fan which we had on full the whole time we were in the room, but that was not enough, the room was very hot overnight and made it difficult to sleep. It was approx. 20-22 degrees during the day and 16 degrees at night.

The room was nice however had no Aircon, and it looked like it was a recently refurbished room so not likely to receive it, it did have a fantastic but that does no good when the weather is as hot as it is. Hotel going through some refurbishment so I am sure things will be better when completed, couldn't get breakfast as had an early start on the Saturday we checked out as it started at 8am and we had to be out at 7.30am which was disappointing. Most disappointing was the leisure facilities like the pool - it was really grotty , showers stank of drains and the pool didn't seem sanitary , not sure how often chlorine levels etc are checked but I don't think it was regular. Hope this is refurbished too. Gym was good though with new equipment and decent Aircon.

Really nice modern room, very well done and great parking options. Would have been 5* if the room had aircon or a fan even. But i would still definitely go back!

The bathroom literally flooded everytime we had a shower, whixh was unsafe for both my mum and myself who have walking difficulties. Unfortunately, I've already booked to stay at Best Western in 2 weeks, I am not looking forward to staying there again!.

This hotel really shouldn’t be open while the refurbishment is going on. Would be good if Expedia and Best Western stated at the time of booking the refurbishment was going on and it is disruptive. Booked 3 rooms in total for myself and 2 colleagues. Each of us had cold showers, we all for some reason had accessibility rooms. The walls are very thin and we could all hear the next door rooms very loudly. The refurbishment there was no dinning (with no restaurants nearby), not only that - the reception area / seating area was extremely dusty. Just generally a terrible experience, very unlikely to return.
