the stay is just so relaxing and zen like and it is less than 10 mins walk to Todaiji including the deer park. Kintetsu Nara train station is about 10 mins away and plenty of shops/restaurants/cafes to check out. Highly recommend this hotel. Service is just outstanding. There are two onsens - one upstairs and another one at the ground floor. The breakfast is just so filling but healthy.

Excellent property in a quiet neighborhood near Nara Park. Daily time slots for private onsen rooms were offered for free with our stay, which was a great surprise!

Though I only stayed there for one night, I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the place. My room was really nice, and it was a good experience.

The staff were beyond friendly and hospitable! My friend staying with me was having medical issues and we were immediately offered help/accommodations in any way possible. The bath has a fantastic view over Nara, the property is nestled amongst some of the most beautiful scenery I’ve ever seen, our room was very cozy, and the breakfast in the morning left us full and satisfied. We loved our stay here! Definitely want to return to stay at this onsen. We were greeted at check in with a sweet gift for our honeymoon it was so thoughtful! We loved arashiyama and the convenience of how walkable our hotel was to both stations and the town. The beds are so comfortable the room we stayed in was spacious. One of the highlights of the trip. An absolute must if you want to stay in a traditional Ryokan. Location was an added bonus to the bamboo forest and monkey park. Staff was top notch!

I wanted to experience a ryokan while I was in Japan. The Tenpyo Ryokan provided that. The service was good. Since we arrived before check-in time, they held our bags for us and put them in our room for us. The room was clean, and as hoped with traditional furniture and comfortable bedding. Good location. The hotel staff is very friendly, the service is more "personalized" feels rather than the chain hotel style. Make sure you pick the rate include breakfast and dinner; the food is good and is so much cheaper if you eat similar food at the near restaurant. I am not sure the water at hot shared bath on the basement floor is coming from onsen or not, but it does help to release some stress from a day of walking. This was a beautiful ryokan to stay. The staff are very helpful to english speaking visitors and can accommodate very well. This ryokan offers you to dine in an intimate setting so you're in a separate room with your guests/partner. Other ryokans have you sit in a restaurant style setting so you're in a large room with open tables. Our waitress and maid was super helpful and very caring for us while we stayed.
