Balsam Mountain Inn

"The inn is absolutely beautiful. Loved the huge front porch with the resident yellow cat, the game/puzzle room, and all the antiques in the hallways. The breakfast that was included was delicious and the dining area is beautiful as well. I was surprised how cool the inn stayed without any air conditioning. The ceiling fan and open windows kept us comfortable all night, even on the 2nd floor in August! The only downside was the mattress in our room - it was extremely firm with not much padding. My daughter is a junior at WCU and I've stayed at several hotels in the area, but this was by far my favorite. I'll definitely be back!"

"The cabin was absolutely amazing with fantastic views of the lake and mountains. A total of 9 people with 4 people on the first floor and 5 people on the second floor ( main floor). The kitchen on the main floor was small but that wasn’t a problem because I do all the cooking. I love to cook and the kitchen was very well appointed. There is another full kitchen downstairs but besides the microwave I don’t think it was used. The gas fire places were definitely a plus as we are from south Florida and we got cold. We loved the outdoor fire pit and the grill as well. Our host Carol was amazing! She called shortly after our arrival on the house phone. FYI… you may not get cellular phone reception. We had to call her once since our power went out due to a thunder storm but it was quickly restored. We loved the kayaks and canoes and explored waterfalls in the lake. The hot tub was great."

"We loved our stay at the cottage. It was perfect for our trip to move my daughter into wcu. The hot tub was perfect after a long day of moving her into the dorm. I would definitely book this cottage again."

"Our family enjoyed a peaceful and relaxing summer vacation here and it was such a beautiful setting. The view of the water and mountains and sunsets was truly rejuvenating. And the concerns over internet speeds was a blessing for our two "screenagers" and created less distractions and more puzzles, card games and conversations that we will cherish."

"We stayed a few nights on a family trip (3 kids) and everyone had a great time. The home was clean and comfortable with great proximity to a beautiful creek. Our boys caught multiple rainbow trout and some river chubs."
