Lighthouse Point is halfway between Miami and Palm Beach, but you would never know it from its low-key atmosphere and small town charm. Head to Pompano Beach, just 3 miles (5 kilometers) south of Lighthouse Point. Admire the Hillsboro Lighthouse, which has been a focal point of the coastline since 1907 and is still in use today. Head to Pompano Beach’s Inlet Park for the best views of this historic structure. The lighthouse is not open to the public, but the Hillsboro Lighthouse Preservation Society occasionally runs tours.
