"We reached out to customer service on the day of check in to explain that my partner was experiencing severe food poisoning and to request an early check-in so she could have a place to rest. We were directed to submit the request through the “virtual front desk” as this is the ONLY way to request this accommodation. Two days later—at 10:30 AM on the day of checkout—the request was still pending. Despite this, we received a message stating they were happy they were able to accommodate our request, which is angering after having to watch my partner struggle with nowhere to rest for hours as we waited for the request to be accepted the day of check in days earlier. No communication. No follow up. Not even a response in the app we were so flippantly directed to.  Dear Hillsboro Beach Resort by Kasa, and whoever is on the other end of your guest text support: If you plan to rely on a “virtual front desk” for guest requests, there needs to be a timely and reliable response system in place. I truly hope that when you or someone you love is 1,500 miles away from home and experiencing that much difficulty, you are treated with more compassion and care than you treated us with. I understand that policies and systems are in place for operational reasons, but in situations involving guest health and well-being, some degree of flexibility and human decency/responsiveness is essential. One star is too many.  "

"Check in process ws extremply chaotic. They never contacted me explaining the process, nor giving AN entrance Code. After more that an hour, I was "saved" by othe guest who wote them explaining that I was there, totally disoriented"

"Our room was a tad outdated. Tv was a bit confusing to navigate. Otherwise overall we had a nice time considering we were steps away from the beach. Definitely would come back. "

"Everything was great! Friendly and personable hosts. Easy access to the beach. Easy parking. A great place to stay!"

"There was not really an ice machine. It appears that they receive ice bags in a freezer. There was debris in front of that machine. The on site manager waited for as we were 30 minutes late for our check in. The room was clean and the window AC worked fine."

"It was everything as listed. Cute place nice people and loved being right on the beach. My only neg comment would be the tub. Wish it didn’t show dirty on the bottom. I know it’s hard to clean but it felt dirty. Other than that we enjoyed our stay. Thank you. "

"The property is clean, the room is well-equipped, and the location is quiet. The only issue I encountered was with the check-in process; both the Expedia app and the property's own app state that your security deposit will be charged to the credit card used to make the reservation—but this is not actually the case. You are required to re-authorize the deposit amount separately; if you fail to do so, you must contact the property directly so they can authorize your check-in after the payment has been processed. That said, I would definitely consider staying at this property again in the future!"
