Medresa Thaalibiya, Algiers

This fine medresa and mosque was built in 1904 by French architect Henry Petit in beautiful harmonic neo-moorish style. It is named after marabout (patron saint of the city) Sidi Abd-er- rahman-et-Thalbi (1387-1471), hence the Thaalibiya name. "Shuttle bus is a joke! You must stop deceiving people with this non existent service! Stranded at airport for more than an hour waiting for your driver in vain! Bathtubs in 2 different rooms are blocked water does get drained! Lightings in rooms and bathroom are so dim! Furniture is very very old and crapy! Strangers and non guests walk in from the street and use elevators to access rooms upstairs to do what exactly only God knows!!!! This is an honest advise to tourists visiting Alger just stay away and don’t ruin your visit staying at this shady place!"

"Very difficult people at reception on two different stays denied that I had a reservation despite showing Expedia paid booking. First room had mold on walls and a tiny bathroom and required that we climb four sets of circular stairs at 2 am. Second room was much better and bathroom was fine but air conditioner did not work. Breakfast pastry was sometimes not fresh. Location was good but no one speaks English only French."
