Cowell Ranch State Beach

The staff was hard to find and very unfriendly. I could not get anyone to help me with anything from a cup of herbal tea to an extra pillow. The front desk check-in person was abrupt; the restaurant workers apparently could not see me, and housekeeping never made it our way. The smores fire pit is a great idea, but when our party of four checked in, we received supplies for two smores. They sold additional supplies for $10!! It is an attractive hotel in a good location, but really not family-friendly or fun. The "partial bay view" I paid for was imaginary, and there is literally no counter space in the bathroom. Yes, the wharf is a costly area, but you can do much better than the Zephyr for this price.

Cozy neighborhood boutique room with great location. No amenities outside the room. Feels more like a bed and breakfast. Room was very comfortable I would recommend for a short stay.
