Unfortunately, this was one of the most frustrating VRBO experiences I’ve had. Check-in instructions were late, confusing, and incomplete (e.g., missing the lockbox code). When I asked for it, the owner insisted he had sent it—he hadn’t. Instructions also said certain gates required keys, but he later said they didn’t. Once inside, there were no visible towels or washcloths. I had to ask, only to find they were hidden in drawers under beds—something that should’ve been noted. We barely had enough bath towels, only 3 hand towels, and no washcloths for 8 people. We had to buy more ourselves.The WiFi info—also missing—took 30 minutes and multiple attempts to get. One toilet didn’t flush. When I reported it, the owner accused us of clogging it and never listened when I shared it was a broken flush mechanism. He then told us not to flush toilet paper—only throw it away. I’ve never heard of anything like this. When I challenged it, they hung up. Later, someone claiming to be with VRBO said the owners would call the police if we didn’t comply. This so called “rule” wasn’t shared in writing until after all this.I took a risk booking a no-review listing—never again. My family and I have a great rental history. We care for properties and have never had issues. We also left this one clean and undamaged but were met with suspicion and hostility. Renters deserve clear info, basic supplies, and respect. This stay fell short on all counts.
