Visit this scenic part of New York’s wine country to learn about the struggle for women’s rights, where a convention for equality was held in 1848.

Seneca Falls is surrounded by the water of a canal and a spectacular lake. In this serene area, enjoy sunbathing near the lake or hiking along nature trails. The town is famous for the Seneca Falls Convention, important in the history of women’s rights.

For a greater understanding of Seneca Falls’ place in history, visit the Women’s Rights National Historical Park. The free museum has information about the 19th-century convention and how it progressed women’s fight for equality, eventually leading to allowing women to vote.

Continue your discovery of civil rights at the National Women’s Hall of Fame at the location of the 1848 convention. Covering the walls of the room are lists of its inductees, some of the most distinguished American women in United States history, including Susan B. Anthony, a noted suffragist.

The Finger Lakes region is home to many of New York’s wineries. Sip wine in tasting rooms with spectacular views of Cayuga Lake.

Enjoy the clear lake waters at Cayuga Lake State Park, where a playground overlooking the water will keep kids happily busy. Relax at the beach and swim in the shallow water. Fish for bass, carp, pike and salmon. Drive through nearby Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge to observe local birds.

The town is widely believed to be the inspiration behind the classic movie It’s a Wonderful Life tour a museum dedicated to the film.

Seneca Falls is in the Finger Lakes region in western New York State between the cities of Geneva and Auburn and just west of Cayuga Lake. Take a 1-hour flight from New York City to Syracuse followed by a 1-hour drive west to reach the town.

The Finger Lakes district has hot summers and mild winters, creating ideal wine grape conditions.

With its museums, vineyards and lakes, Seneca Falls is a living tribute to the three Ws of women, wine and water.

Beautiful clean room. Nice staff. I had an amazing time at the comedy show at the vine. Drinks were inexpensive and food was great. Did a little gambling but I’m not a big gambler but it was fun.

Nice property that is next to (2) other cabins that share a fireplace. On route 89 so can get a little loud with traffic but it's no bad. I prefer a little softer mattress as for me it was too firm.
