When picking this property, please be mindful that there’s no transportation to get around and extremely big property. you must have a vehicle there is no golf kart to assist you in traveling around the facility.

So when we arrived our room wasn’t ready. Then we had to wait a hour and a half for another room. Then our new room had no air conditioning. We had to use a fan for 5 days. And another thing we was given a room with two queen size beds instead of a king size! The food at the buffet was horrible. However Blue Water grill was very good and the staff was pleasant. The ocean had lots of rocks so make sure you get water shoes. The staff at the bars was nice but some was not to friendly. Thanks

Service is second to none! I've never had a more pleasant stay at any hotel than I did at the Avila Beach Hotel. The two private beaches (lagoons, technically) were perfect for the size and location of the property, and seemed ideal to accommodate the number of guests on-site. The rocks formed a natural barrier against choppier ocean waves and the inlets were just enough to keep the waters calm yet active enough to avoid stagnation. Tiny fish, a crab or two and a couple iguanas can be seen running about, but never invasive. Each lagoon feels like a real oasis. The staff are more than pleasant, and their politeness never felt performative or coerced. Shout out to Claude for being such an attentive staff member. The location is quite accessible, but still felt quaint and certainly safe. I'd recommend booking a package that includes flights, the stay at Avila Beach, as well as transportation to and from the hotel. I'm definitely returning next year; I won't consider staying anywhere else.

The property was beautiful, the staff was fantastic. Shore dives from the house reef were amazing, but highly recommend getting a rental car to explore the island. Dive certification at adjacent Oceans Encounters were also convenient and well run.

Nice property and staff. Housekeeping was on it. Food on resort was a bit costly and bland on certain items, but not too terrible. And the $10 usd M&Ms in the gift shop. :-) Entertainment was off a bit, however, Guitarist on Monday and Sax player on Tuesday nights were both excellent! Overall, it was a good visit.
