Phu Quoc Island Golf Vacations

It has a been a great experience staying at Mai Phuong during our visit on Phu Quoc Island. Daily breakfast is included and the quality is excellent with lots of options. The resort is in the Northern park of the island along with other family run resorts and fisherman as neighbors. It is quiet and peaceful, but it is not too far away from the tourist attraction, Grand World, where you can find cafe, food, shopping and massage there. You can also take the bus there to explore the rest of the island. They have a tuk tuk shuttle service to take you to Grand World. Staff are nice, helpful and friendly. The beach is excellent and the addition of the swimming pool is a bonus.

Fantastic resort with a central location, excellent staff and beachfront amenities

The staff are incredibly friendly and genuinely kind people. Whoever is responsible for hiring deserves a gold star! We travelled Vietnam for a month ending our trip in Phu Quoc, it was the most difficult area for me to decide where to stay and I am so thrilled I chose Cassia Cottage! Everything was absolutely perfect! Amazing restaurant for dinner, seriously the best spread for breakfast, free yoga classes, rooms cleaned daily, very quiet location within 5 minute walk to a plethora of restaurants, spas, and nightlife. The pool area was lovely but we only dipped our toes as the beach is gorgeous! Beautiful sand, lots of loungers with umbrellas for guests, a fun swing right on the beach, plus beach is shallow so you can gently walk into the sea. I considered a number of other accommodations near and far this location, and seeing them confirmed I made the right choice. Nearby there are a couple of convenience stores for all of your needs: beer, sunscreen (cheap), treats, etc. I hadn't realized when booking that Cassia has its own filtration system so no need to buy water to brush your teeth or for drinking! You will not be disappointed with Cassia cottage.

The room was large and the view and private pool was very good. The bed wasn't very comfortable and the linens and towels were very basic. The food at breakfast and dinner was OK and reasonably priced. There were insufficient loungers by the sandy beach, others were available but it was rocky and you couldn't easily swim in the sea. Whilst there were plenty of restaurants, supermarkets and spas in the nearby village, it was a challenge to get any grab drivers to come to the hotel and you could easily wait 30mins and usually this was only because someone had been dropped off. The walk to the village was about 1.2km, but it is a little up and down and when the temperature is about 37c it isn't great. The resort has a number of golf carts which they could have used to have a regular shuttle service for guests or even charge for the service, but they restrict your use of these vehicles to your day of arrival & departure only and within the hotel area. If I return to Phu Quoc I will choose a more convenient location.

The wifi didn’t work,

The 3BR Villa was nice and spacious but had maintenance issues. The flooring was uneven and creaky, and when we checked in late afternoon/early evening the air conditioning in the master bedroom and main living room were not functional. After maintenance worked on it for an hour the bedroom AC was working but not at full capacity, and the living room AC couldn't be fixed. The bedroom temperature wasn't comfortable until after 11PM. This caused a fair bit of inconvenience and discomfort, we had young children who had trouble sleeping due to the heat. The living room AC wasn't able to be fixed during our stay. Management was responsive, apologetic, and helpful but at the end of the day wasn't able to offer us an agreeable solution to compensate for not providing a villa in full working condition. They offered to change to an equivalent villa after 2 nights, we declined as it meant packing and unpacking for 9 people. After a lot of back and forth the best they could do for us was various resort credits and services with a total face value of about $150CAD. This was a pretty small amount compared to the rate of the villa. Other than that the property was quite pleasant.
