Central Singapore Cheap Vacations

If cleanliness is important to you, definitely do not stay at this hotel. Our studio room was filthy. Dirt and dust along the skirting boards, the kettle was filthy, their was mould in several places in the shower recess, and the way the bed was presented in the placement of the doona gave the appearance that the previous guests had just moved out and left the bed unmade. The doona had an awful smell about it. We forfeited out stay and went elsewhere. The lobby staff were 'half interested' in that they didn't show any real concern. They just asked if we'd given housekeeping 'a chance to fix it'. There's proof they missed the point. DON'T present the room that way in the first place!!!! Incredibly disappointing as the reason we selected this hotel was because of the positive reviews. Still it was worthwhile test for our first stay as we're setting up a 4 day get-a-way as a reward for our 18 staff plus family for later in the year. This is one hotel we'll stay clear of. The Carlton Hotel itself is a nice property, but unfortunately, I wasn’t particularly impressed with my room. The only two USB outlets in the room didn’t work, mildew/mold in the bathroom, and the sink faucet was so loose that it felt like it might break any minute. Those issues weren’t deal-breakers for me, and I could have lived with them. What really surprised me, though, was the price when I decided to extend my stay by one additional night. I was quoted over $500 for one night, even though I had paid about $600 for my original THREE NIGHT stay. Considering the problems with the room, I felt the hotel could have made some kind of allowance or offered a reasonable rate for the extra night. Unfortunately, they didn’t. So, I ended up staying at an equal hotel just around the block for less than one-third of what the Carlton quoted me. I have to say, I’m pretty disappointed. I expected better from the Carlton, especially given the issues with my room and the fact that I was already a guest.

Loved staying One Ferrar, which is close to the Metro, Little India and the City Mall. Shout out to Sella and Devi at reception for making two tired travelers smile with an upgrade to a suite that was a real treat. All the employees were very helpful and efficient. The included breakfast was great for starting the day with a good supply of choices. The giant pool and pool deck was perfect for cooling off and relaxing. There’s even a cold tub next to the hot tubs! Two restaurants are on site and there are many more choices within a short walking distance. Tip for taxi or Grab users: Drivers will ask you for the Postal Code, which is assigned to each building in Singapore; it is the number on the address in the directions of the Hotel.coms website. We enjoyed the Flower Dome with its Lillies show and the restaurant inside, the National Orchid Garden and it’s restaurant as well as the rooftop outdoor bar at the Marina Sands Hotel with its view from 60 floors up!
