The resort itself is beautiful, and many staff members were genuinely excellent, but unfortunately our overall experience fell short of what we expect from a luxury property. Our biggest disappointment was the handling of the restaurant dress code on our first evening at Bluewater Grill. We fully respect that restaurants can have dress codes. Our concern was never the existence of the policy, but the inconsistent way it was explained and enforced. After waiting approximately 90 minutes, we were ultimately denied entry while other guests wearing similar attire were allowed inside. When we asked for clarification, the explanation changed multiple times. First, we were told that sandals and Crocs were not allowed. Later, Hugo explained that the no-sandals rule only applied to gentlemen. During our subsequent discussion with management, Glacia told us that leather sandals for gentlemen were acceptable. None of these explanations matched the published dress code, which simply states that sandals are not permitted. This inconsistency was the source of our confusion from the very beginning. What made the experience more disappointing was not simply being asked to follow a dress code, but how the situation was handled. Our initial interaction with the hostess Nube set an unwelcoming tone, and even after we were eventually seated, there was little acknowledgement of the inconvenience.

We booked a two bedroom suite for my famile at Hotel Riu Palace Peninsula - All Inclusive from Jul 25 to Jul 29 after reading a lot of review about this resort. According to the review, this reosrt provide upscale food and good for family. Our family have 80 and 75 years old seniors, 3 adults around 50 years old, and one 14 teenage. we're going to relax at this resort with good food. On Jul 25 of 2026, when we were waiting for flying to Cancun at ORF airport, I received a call and a message from a stranger, asking me not to got to Hotel Riu Palace Peninsula but call a provied number to rebook. The message mentioned a wrong date Jul20 as my stay date. To me at that time, it was suspicious and I have no time to decide. After we arrived Cancun airport, we called Hotel Riu Palace Peninsula. But it only provide Spanish communication. Then we just took a taxi to arrive Hotel Riu Palace Peninsula. The front desk told us they don't have room to accomdate our 6 people and they assigned us to hotel Riu Latino. Since hotel Riu Latino is "Adult Only" and my son is 14 years old, we rejected it. Finally, they sent us to Hotel Riu Caribe with 2 rooms. Hotel Riu Caribe provide some sports activity and is good for young people. It provides buffet (Albatros) with same menu everyday. It has 4 restaurants but with very small varieties. So we just ate same buffet every day. My reservation is not my prefered choise.
