"Absolutely amazing stay at this Ryokan. We stayed one night as part of a 3-week Japan trip and it felt like a holiday within a holiday. Everything impeccable, friendly service and fantastic comfort. The meals were out of this world good, our room had a private Onsen which was amazing, but there's also an outdoor Onsen which you can enjoy at pretty much any time. Lovely stay!"

"Wonderful experience! A stately & historical large ryokan nested on the eastern hill slope of Gero town. My second stay at this ryokan & will continue to stay there next time I am in Gero. Very good vista of the town in the morning or evening. Very large garden & landscape, with tall tress & seasonal flower trees.or bushes.. a beautiful & varied feast for the eyes & senses if one come at different seasons... "Quiet and older onsen by the river and train tracks in Gero onsen town. A shuttle service is providing certain hours, but we opted to walk to the resort from the train station. After a hot bath I recommend having a nice cold milk from the vending machines. Staff was friendly, room was clean, and it was fun to try the dinner/breakfast. Some instructions and info on how and what we were eating would have been nice but not knowing is a fun part of that experience! Thank you for having us!"

"The property is slightly dated & the style of the rooms in the main block were old. However its public bath/ hotspring (i.e. onsen) were newly decorated & very roomy / well-lighted. It would be perfect if the rooms are facing the river which is the major HIGHLIGHT of the Gero township. The breakfast was excellent & recommend fellow travellers to also book dinner with the hotel as there is basically not many restaurants nearby in a hotspring township like this."

"The hostel is conveniently located near the train station. It is fine, but I found the bed was a bit uncomfortable. There were gaps between the boards under the bed, so for a side sleeper, you either have your hip/shoulder on hard wood, or completely unsupported. Lockers for valuables provided, but no lockers for big luggage. Other than that it was fine, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here again."
