I was such a beautiful place to stay! There was plenty of room, and plenty of pillows - rare in Japan! The decoration was very tasteful and welcoming. This is a 10 out of 10. The location at the edge of the forest is spectacular. The service is impeccable. We are vegan and they accommodated us with absolutely delicious meals. It is located just on the outskirts of the Nara Deer Park where you are surrounded by a lovely forest ambience and yet you are just a short hike from the Park and its bustling surrounds. The trail just outside the Ryoken takes you up the mountain.It is simply an awesome place!

This is a very authentic Japanese hotel and appeared to be mostly Japanese tourists. The dinner buffet had very loud live performance and the audience was definitely into it. There's an onsen at this hotel and a pool. The pool closes early and opens late so heads up. We didn't really pay attention to where the hotel was. The property seems to be recently updated, it is modern, and clean. The amenity is lacking a few things (for example, it tells the guest to wash dishes and put them away but doesn’t provide a clothe to dry them). Also, the instruction isn’t super clear. The instruction reads to leave the key on the table when checking out (that’s what it says literary in English), when in fact you need to lock and put the key in the lockbox as one example.
