"Had a great stay here. Dinner and breakfast was excellent. The traditional japanese tatami room was nice to experience. Kentaro went out of his way to make us feel at home. We missed a bus that only comes around every 2 hrs and Kentaro appeared out of nowhere in his Van, was like "Hurry get on!" and we chased down that bus. Good times! Thanks Ken!"

"前回利用してリピート利用です。他にも少し安いゲストハウスはありますが、ここを利用してしまうと部屋の広さと使いやすさがピカイチで、他の選択肢を選べなくなってしまいます。プラスポイントは部屋の広さ、掃除が徹底されている点、キッチンや冷蔵庫、お皿など自炊グッズの充実、タオル類のクオリティ等々。マイナスポイントとしては、空港や港からの距離が少し遠いことくらいです。レンタカーがあれば大きな問題にはなりませんが。ちなみに宿から車で5分で海中温泉やJRホテルの温泉がありますので、温泉に入る場合もとても便利です。あと、JRホテルへ入る道にAコープというスーパーがあるので買物もとても便利です。"

"Sankara was a perfect oasis of peace and tranquility on Yakushima Island. The service was impeccable. Everyone knew who we were and the villa we were staying at. So polite, gracious and helpful. The facilities were top notch and the spa was wonderful. We sampled the massages and facial treatments. Amazing experience. Dinner options were perfect. We were very impressed. "We stayed in one of the bigger rooms with the outdoor bath. Only fits one at a time for adults but the deck and upper deck are beautiful. Room is overall clean, big and kitchen was great considering the island food opens late and closes early. A car is needed to access and anyone visiting Yakushima needs a rental car. I don't think it is possible to enjoy it as much without one after being there. The staff and owners are wonderful people and really treat their guests like gold. The tankan juice...

"The cottages are very cute and comfortable. Also the kitchen is well equipped. We made breakfast every morning. The owner of the property is very friendly, professional and helpful. He made a reservation for us at the sushi restaurant Iso no kari ,which was amazing and very authentic. Also the Slow pasta restaurant was very good. They both are 10-15 walk from the property. "

"The food at the restaurant is not that great and costly. The onsen ( outdoor and indoor) and large swimming pool are great and beautiful. Thanks to the very nice Japanese lady that speak english with an Australian accent, she was very helpful - too bad she is only working in the restaurant and not at the front desk! If you plays a game of pool, the manager will rudely stop your game if your game is lasting a little more than the money and time you paid (2,000 yen per hour). Very rude, unprofessional and cheap. The lounge/ bar listed under Expedia for this hotel doesn’t exist! Ocean and forest views are amazing. A local bus is located in front of the hotel. "
