Westcliffe and the Wet Mountain Valley blends hiking, fishing, 4x4-ing, (reasonably-priced) galleries, museums by day and astronomy by night. The atmosphere is a million light years from the big city or fancy resorts of Northern Colorado. Slow don and take in the most beautify slice of simple, quirky and friendly, rural Southern Colorado.
Dark Skies International designated Westcliffe/Silver Cliff as a Dark Sky Community in 2015. It's the highest elevation and part of the Colorado Stargazing tour touted by Colorado Department Tourism. Being on the far edge of Westcliffe, this home is a great place to stargaze. For details and schedule of free observatory sessions, search on "Dark Skies of the Wet Mountain Valley" or "Dark Skies Colorado" for more information.
Westcliffe holds events nearly every week from May to October. High Mountain Hay Fever Bluegrass Festival and the PRCA Stampede Rodeo draw the most guests. Upcoming activities may be found by searching on "Visit Wet Mountain Valley".
Sangre de Cristo and Wet Mountain Ranges offer a wide range of hiking, biking, fishing and hunting.
DeWeese Reservoir is less than 10 minutes away, driving slowly.
Arkansas River and Royal Gorge are nearby, offering rafting, train tours or helicopter sightseeing
Great Sand Dunes National Park is a scenic 90-110 minute drive circumnavigating the Sangre de Cristo range

Charley was a great host and checked in to make sure we had what we needed. The house is a 4 minute drive to town so the location is great! Family friendly and would definitely stay there again.
Home is a great design with enough amenities. Outside and around property is great if you love being outdoors. The owner does a great job trying to give you and your family a great setup.
Place was amazing and just what my family needed. The house was very clean, and neighborhood was quiet, full of stars at night and spectacular mountain views during the day. Favorites parts were soaking in the hot tub and going to Mission Wolf, we will definitely be back!
Was in the area for my MIL's 90th birthday gathering. Although we spent most of the time at my BIL's cabin nearby, this place exceeded my expectations. Very comfortable with all the amenities you could want. Would definitely stay here again!
The location was absolutely perfect. The property is tranquil, relaxing, and has spectacular views of the Sangres. The property is very well maintained, and the host is easy to work with. We would not hesitate to stay at this location again.
Charley is an excellent host! Very welcoming and super friendly. The property was perfect in every way. Very clean, cozy and packed with lots to do! Location is a quick trip to downtown. We highly recommend this lovely home!!
The house was perfect for the three of us. It was quiet, comfortable and clean. The owner came by and we had a very nice visit. WHAT A VIEW! We will be glad to book again. It was great
We had a fabulous break from the city with our college age kids. It was nice to step away and enjoy the birds and the night sky.. wonderful location. Great host.
Beautiful home with incredible views! The house was perfect for our family of 7, very inviting and fully stocked. All the rooms were spacious and accommodating. We enjoyed the outdoor spaces as well. Charley was a wonderful host, very responsive and proactive. Would definitely recommend this home!
We had a great time in Westcliffe. The house is beautiful. the fishing, hiking was outstanding. We took a trip to Bishop's Castle that was really cool. We also went to Lake San Isabel. We will be coming back with family and friends.
Thanks for everything Charlie.
This home was even better than described. The owners have gone above and beyond to ensure the comfort of guests. Exceptionally clean, large rooms, comfy beds, and well-stocked. We enjoyed the fire pit, and the hot tub was available. Great views of the mountains. Large lot, with no close neighbors, so very quiet. Would love to come back.
Very well maintained, lots of high quality touches in the kitchen, hypoallergenic toiletries, very comfy master bed. We enjoyed the stunning night skies from the warmth of the hot tub. Very easy online access through a Dack App that we used for the first time. Fast internet allows work access(though one ought not to work) and essy use of the smart tv. Exceeded our expectations in every way. Top of our long rist of VRBO rentals !!
What a great place - super comfortable beds - the shower!! what an excellent strong shower and the water was excellent.. And THE VIEW !! Sangre de Cristo Mountains are so majestic - stepped outside to experience the sun rise on the east and the glow of the Sangre de Cristos on the West .. As close to Heaven on Earth as you could be .. Patrick & Dana McAllister
We had a great visit to Westcliffe and the surrounding areas.... we have been coming here for many years with our boys. We love the small town feel, cooler weather, amazing stars, rodeo, hiking, tennis, white water rafting, tubing, bowling.... all the fun of Colorado! The house was great -- has everything you need with a great location. Hot tub was a great added feature too. We will for sure be back!
This house was exactly as advertised.
The neighborhood is a little funky but this house with trees and green lawn was the best one there. The best thing about the house is the inside which was immaculate and very comfortable. The kitchen is well supplied and the owner even left us a pound of locally grass fed hamburger which was delicious. Internet tv was off and on but this is an outdoor place to go so who really cares about tv that much look at the stars instead Well worth the reasonable price
We had a delightful stay! At every turn we had what we needed. Charley has most things labeled and was quite responsive the one time we had a need. We stayed three nights — there were ample towels, afghans for each couch, books to take, games and a big tv. Best of all were the stars! We even saw the STARLINK satellites launch!! The hot tub fit all 5 of us and the fire pit made the patio cozy at night. All in all, a delightful stay!
Amazingly well supplied beautiful property with mountain view
Stayed 5 nights here for a girls’ trip with my two adult nieces. The 3-bedroom, 2 bath was perfect for us. The house is beautiful and supplied with nearly anything you can possibly need…almost like one’s own home. The beds and linens were so comfortable, especially the master suite where I stayed, that I almost didn’t want to get out of bed. The hot tub was a hit and we enjoyed stargazing at the dark sky. We appreciated the use of the good binoculars. We enjoyed several hikes on the Rainbow Trail, a short drive from the house. Charley was great at communicating with us and answering any questions. I definitely recommend the house and would be happy to return.
We had such a wonderful time celebrating Thanksgiving in this space. There is beautiful natural light in the living room, beautiful views of the Sangre de Cristo mountains, a cozy wood-burning stove, and lots of opportunities to stargaze in the hot tub at night. The kitchen is also incredibly well-stocked. We had everything we needed. Charley was so helpful and kind. Highly recommended!
