Nestled on a working farm, in a rural position with lovely views, this holiday property, one in a row of three, has been sympathetically converted from a large, oak-beamed barn situated around a courtyard adjacent to the owner’s farmhouse. Furnished and equipped to a very good standard. There are many places of interest nearby, such as Longleat House and Safari Park, the chalk ‘White Horse’ near Westbury, Salisbury Plain, the ancient Stonehenge monuments, Avebury, Stourhead House and Gardens (NT). Really lovely holiday cottage, perfect for our family of 5 adults.

Really lovely holiday cottage, perfect for our family of 5 adults. The garden backs onto the crop fields and is full of birds, so they were great entertainment in the morning and early evening. The house is well laid out and cosy, I particularly enjoyed the choice of artwork, lots of bird and horse antique pictures. The bedrooms are spacious. In a really good location, you can walk into Warminster and it is a reasonable distance from a number of heritage sites, so many that we couldn’t fit them all in.

The large property has everything needed for a comfortable stay. It is kept very clean. The owners are exceptionally helpful and do everything they can to ensure you feel welcome. It is in a quiet farm location, with lovely local walks and cycle routes. Warminster is within easy walking distance for all essential needs.

Exploring Wiltshire

We found the accommodation for my partner and I was very spacious, which we hoped it would be. Bedrooms are large with great views over fields and courtyard. Lots of bird life which was great for us to see. The rooms are decorated in a farmhouse style and are very adequate. I would add that some updating of furniture would increase the appeal and brightness of this accommodation.

We loved our stay in Oldfield.

We loved our stay in Oldfield. The only niggles we had were that the pillows on the beds were way too thin and offered no support for a good nights sleep. The other niggle was the state of the chopping boards in the kitchen. Two really old wooden boards that would be a harbour for unknown germs and the third plastic chopping board had probably seen better days too. Fantastic well equipped cottage with extremely comfy beds for an excellent night sleep. In a very quiet location which was ideal for dog walks especially up the lane a twenty min walk to nearest bar overlooking the river. We had a huge age range 98 to 13 including myself, my mum, Nana and two teenage children. Netflix was an added bonus for the teenagers. Owners really helpful and friendly and we would revisit. We stayed at Oldfield as a family of four with 2 children, my mum who was in our support bubble and our dog. There was plenty of space and the downstairs bedroom and bathroom was ideal for mum. The master bedroom is beautiful with exposed beams and floods with light. The beds and bedding made for a comfortable nights sleep. The smart TV is a great addition as we were able to sign into to our Netflix and Amazon accounts to have movie night and found there was plenty of seating for us all to sit together comfortably. The enclosed garden is beautifully landscaped and we loved sitting out, the views over the surrounding land are amazing. It was perfect for our dog. The short trip into Warminster was straight forward with plenty of supermarkets to stock up. We booked ahead and had Sunday lunch at The Wellington Arms and ate at the Italian La Campanga and the food was great. Both felt very safe under the current restrictions. I only have a small suggestion as dogs aren’t allowed upstairs - which is understandable - perhaps a stair gate could be added as we found it difficult to keep our young pooch from going upstairs with such an open staircase. Perhaps a hoover specific for pet hair would also be good. Our dog doesn’t shed but there was dog hair from a previous visitor. We loved our stay at Oldfield and would love to return. We had a super holiday in the cottage which was comfortable and allowed us to meet up with family who lived nearby. The children enjoyed seeing the horses and chickens and the local area was fun to explore. Enjoyed visiting Salisbury Cathedral which was superb and Longleat which the younger family members thoroughly enjoyed.
