The room lacked practical facilities like a place to put your clothes or suitcases which meant it looked cluttered all the time. The front desk staff were pleasant when they were there but seldom were able to be helpful. Room was small, however nicely appointed with all I needed. The hallways of the hotel were immaculate and sparkled. The bathroom was very clean, however the room itself needed a serious deep edge-vacuuming. Dust could be seen along the edges of room and under the nightstand opening at the floor. "Our tatami room was incredibly dirty, dusty and bathroom wS leaking n smelly. Bathroom near dining room, water leaked around the toulet when flushed. Sests stuck to dining room floors because floors were vrimy n sticky. When i showed the staff at the front desk, pictures of the grimy tib, they only apologizedand said the hotel is old. We have stayed in 400 yo lodgings in narita, rome and venice that were clean! I wish i could show u puctures that i took! "

"The Unzen ration is very Sulphur based - don’t smells very bad ! This hotel has amazing gardens but the food is very bad for an expensive Onsen ! We are on a 10 day Onsen trip and this is the worst food we have eaten - go somewhere else "
