Great location looking over Tortuga Island. Beautiful settings with pool area with panoramic view. Need 4x4 to access hotel because 2 mi are on gravel and steep.

Tambor Tropical is an exceptionally well cared for property. We were well taken care of by very friendly and attentive staff. The hotel is a great place for a quiet and peaceful getaway. This isn't a comment towards the hotel, but we felt important for visitors to know that the beach isn't a great swimming beach. It is great for sunrises, long walks, and not sharing it with many other people.

Loved every moment. Plenty of activities. Drinks and excursions were quite inexpensive relative to our expectations. Folks from so many different parts of the world appear to stay here. Food was delicious. People were incredibly nice. The pool (with pool bar), waterfall, and lookout are all must-try items. The grounds are also quite extensive and nice to walk. Monkeys, large iguanas, and unique birds frequent the hotel grounds. Easily the best vacation I've ever had.

The property is beautiful, Tomas is incredibly helpful and passionate, comfy bed, nice pools, yummy breakfast (bread/ jellies, coffee/tea, juice, fresh fruits, eggs) & close to beaches and Bioluminescent tour in secluded area so plenty of nature to enjoy. The entrance sidewalk is steep so wear hiking/tennis shoes not sandals/ heels, Tomas did offer to help us bring our bags up which was nice but just be aware it may not be accessible for everybody. Wonderful place and lovely host. Their bioluminescence tour with Luis was amazing! Bed is comfortable. Be aware that there is no AC and it is 80 degrees at night. They have a great set up, fans pointed at the beds. Highly recommend this proprty!

I first stayed here 19 years ago for my sister’s wedding. The property has expanded a bit, to include an onsite restaurant, which is very good and breakfast and one dinner entree are included. The fresh and a decent variety. Typical spices in a dish have a distinctly Costa Rican twist. The entire staff is helpful, attentive and courteous. Nya is a beautiful property with wildlife all around. I was able to watch a family if howler monkeys from the hammock outside my room. They left me a yummy dessert daily in my room they put in while I was out. The free breakfast menu had a variety of options including vegetarian. Property is town so walkable and beach is right across flyer road from the property. Got the best massage there as well.

We used the hotel bus from San Jose, comfortable and excellent service. Reception staff Gonzalo & Alex outstanding. Very pls with the staff in the restaurants and with the cleanness regardless we stayed on a long week end with lots of people. The food was very good as well as the maintenance and cleanness of the room. The gardens beautiful ! The beach, if you walk a few yards to the left you can find a lovely beach with lots of vegetation nearby.

Very nice hotel on Herradura Beach.The hotel and the people are very good.The swimming poll is the best atracttion.But the hotel is boring,are not enough activities if you dont go on tour or practice golf.The food is very expensive in all restaurants inside and in the Marina.A big supermarket is about 500 meters from the hotel.Jaco town is about 10 minutes.
