Bradley’s beach was a lovely spot to stop and have our picnic lunch. It’s also the location you can see remains of shellfish which is evidence of Aboriginal occupation.
This little Island is very isolated with access only by boat. A ferry ride from Brooklyn will get you there in about 15 minutes. The ferry service is fairly frequent and reasonable in price. $6.70 Adults and $3.40 children over 5/Seniors/Concession, this is each way. The walking track around Dangar Island is just 3.3km from the ferry wharf. Up the hills and down around bends, the views across the Hawkesbury river are second to none. Lots of quirky and artistic finds and the flora and fauna is abundant with a lot of native flowers in bloom.

Spotted this little fellow as we were leaving the carpark down at the park in Brooklyn in NSW. He was at eye view and very friendly. Normally possums (ring tail) are nocturnal. However, I have a feeling that the locals and the visitors have fed this little guy as he was keen to share in the picnic lunch and once spotted by others, they were only to keen to give him some bread. Not something I recommend as it would upset their little tummies. A native to Australia yet a pest in other countries. :)
The Hawkesbury Marina. A very pretty spot visit for the day. Restaurants (seafood particularly) small boutique stores and boat hire is all available here. Why not hire a houseboat for a few nights or jump on the ferry or even take a unique trip with the Riverboat postman and head down the river and check out some of the isolated Island homes. You may have heard or seen the movie 'Oyster Farmer' This is around where it was filmed. Fantastic place for fresh fish (flathead is a favourite) oysters and chips.
