Cedar Point's Express Hotel
8/10 Good
"This is my third stay at this hotel so far this summer. Love the location and it's of comparable value to other area hotels, with the added perk of early access to Cedar Point. What could stand improvement: it's also the third stay where either the shampoo, conditioner, or body wash was missing from the bathroom (they use large bottles instead of the travel-sized ones, which is great for the environment but not so great for guests if they are missing/empty, which you may not discover until you're already in the shower). Like most hotels post-Covid, the Express does not automatically offer daily housekeeping. We had trouble getting a fresh set of towels during our stay (the front desk had no runners and asked me to come down; I went down and waited for about 10 minutes before giving up and telling them to send some when a runner was available). These are small issues but do affect guest perceptions, so we're trying our luck at the Holiday Inn Express next door for Labor Day, which was cheaper and offered free breakfast and larger beds."
South Shore Inn

"Hi there, this is older but nicely maintained and well run motel. Rooms were clean and good size for family of four. The front desk staff were very nice (and family oriented). Breakfast was basic but neat with the automatic pancake maker. Proximity to Cedar Point amusement park was great as well. We arrived late and didn't use pool, but there were many families using the pool and slide, and they looked to be having a nice time."

"An OK place to stay for a night or two. It was probably very nice in the earlier years, but it needs a glowup desperately. The bed was pretty comfortable and the bathroom was huge. Great shower, if that means anything for someone reading ;) The surroundings was great, everything with in a few minutes (restaurants, Walmart etc). "

"Everything was better than expected. Room was clean, public areas were clean. Staff was nice. It was a much larger beach that I remember and the hot tubs were large. Early access to CP was easy. Only downsize is price of drinks."
