*****A LAKE AND MOUNTAIN VACATION!*****
The Pioneer Trading Post is located on beautiful Douglas Lake with 600 miles of shoreline, marinas, restaurants, bars, music and mountain vistas.
You have found a Historic Property with character and authenticity that is truly hard to come by. This is not a generic, cooky cutter cabin. Sections of the cabin were built by the Scot- Irish settlers who were early pioneers to the Great Smoky Mountains at the turn of the century and their craftsmanship and building skills have stood the test of time. We have 5 beautifully appointed bedrooms, which sleep 10 comfortably.
THE PIONEER TRADING POST IS A MUSEUM TO OUR APPALACHIAN AND CHEROKEE BLENDED CULTURE
YET WITH ALL THE CONVENIENCES OF MODERN LIVING:
You will find early American chestnut walls and ceilings, a totem pole made by Chief Blue Cloud, vintage oak and heart pine floors, spinning wheels, quilts, church pews on the porch, butter churns, pie safes, cedar chests and claw foot tubs. We also have showers and a jacuzzi.
(Please note: If you are looking for something that feels more like a modern home, wrapped in logs, there are literally 1000's on this site to choose from).

LAKE LEVELS: Douglas Lake is a seasonal dam controlled lake. Lake levels vary. TVA (TN Valley Authority) starts releasing water from the dam in the Fall in order to make room for winter storms and snow run-off. TVA starts to lower the water level in the cove after Labor Day. The lake is at it's fullest from early May and late August. The home owners do not control the lake levels or rain accumulation. However, the cabin and its location are beautiful year round. Please check TVA website for more accurate lake Level information. https://www.tva.com/environment/lake-levels
FIRE PIT: We have a lovely fire pit for very small fires. If it is dry due to a lack of rain we must observe fire bans and owners description..
