A very quiet, clean place to stay. Basic amenities, easy parking, close to Gualala and park. Beds were comfortable and kitchen had what we needed. Layout of the house was a little odd -- tall and narrow with one common area (living-dining-kitchen) on the upper floor and the deck off that area is quite small (the larger deck with hot tub requires entry through a bedroom), so if you're looking to spend time as a group/family on a deck outside, this might not be the best choice. Otherwise it was good.

Pretty good

It’s an older house so there are some funky things, but overall it was a good place to stay. If you’re sensitive to light while sleeping make sure you bring an eye mask because the blinds are only for privacy, not for light blocking. The TV is comically small, so hopefully you’re visiting the area for activities that don’t include a television.

Musty smelling home, lacking kitchen supplies with poorly maintained hot tub.

I stayed here while attending a weekend wedding. The neighborhood was fantastic and couldn’t ask for a better setting. Upon checking in (late evening) I noticed the hot tub water had a foul odor and was dirty. I have my own hot tub at home and know when the water hasn’t been changed in a while. I had to clean the filter and swap half of the water in order to enjoy it that evening. The kitchen supplies are extremely limited, so if you are going to stay here, plan like you’re going camping. I noticed the windows that had a view looking west towards the sunset were also very dirty. If the home was deep cleaned, had kitchen supplies and the hot tub was maintained, it would’ve been a five star review.

Excellent stay

The house was amazing. Everything was clean and had everything we needed to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The neighborhood was quiet, peaceful and had the most beautiful scenery! We look forward to another stay!

NEEDS UPDATING

I stayed at this property several years ago. It has not been updated since then. TV is about 36", no directions in the house binder about it or anything else in the house. The Netflix account wasn't accessible. No cable so streaming was the only choice. Trash can in bathroom not emptied. Very clean otherwise. Very good bed and linens, I brought my own pillow thank goodness! I thought the water in the hot tub looked cloudy; it was nice and hot, though. The host could have provided a map of Sea Ranch or let guests know that the real estate office has free maps at the Annapolis Rd location. The shower head in the tub/shower bathroom needs replacing. I couldn't see the heater controls in that bathroom so I don't know if it was working - didn't seem to turn on. The kitchen is well supplied with cooking equipment and small appliances BUT 6 forks? and even fewer soup spoons? This kitchen eating utensils need to be upgraded with enough for 4 adults for at least one day. The worst thing is that the house was extremely COLD: apparently there is very little that can be done about that except to use the wall heaters or make a fire. The owner's signs on the heaters were cautionary about the cost of using the heaters so please don't use them very much. They were the only sources of heat! The wood stove? Didn't look usable - clean, but small and no instructions. No markers on the flue handle. Logs were there but most were too huge to fit. Overall I was dissatisfied and left 2 days early.

Weekend getaway

This house was beautiful and peaceful. The scenery around the property allowed us to truly relax and enjoy our surroundings. The interior was also very clean and well maintained which helped us feel right at home.

left a lot to be desired

I tried to contact the property manager multiple times about these issues but unfortunately they were not receptive to hearing what was going on. the neighborhood and view were good, and there was nice natural light in the place. but that’s about it in terms or pros. here are the issues that arose during the stay: * no heat throughout house. just space heater and wood stove. it is a two story house * for the wood stove there was only a small bundle and we needed to buy the rest. this seems flawed. like if a vrbo house had a faucet but then the guest had to pay extra for the water to run * speaking of water, it takes about 15 minutes of the water running to even get hot. sink and showers alike * no way to turn on or off fan on stove but there is a sign that says we must use fan when cooking * stove did not work longer than enough time to heat water on the kettle. could not cook on it at all * broken soap dispense that sliced my hand i am not usually one to write a bad review but i’ve tried multiple times to get in touch with the property company and have gotten nowhere with them. they need to make some serious changes before it is safe for guests, especially during the winter.

Lovely spot

Highly recommend this property. It’s not on the bluffs but you can walk via the trails to get there, or do a short drive. The house itself could use some additional dishes and glasses that aren’t plastic and new pillows!

Great (elite) location / “OK” overall stay

Sea Ranch is fantastic. Both houses we rented seemed to have been set up by penny-pinchers. Why have terrible cheap-o mattresses; lowest end paper products? Why have ZERO kitchen supplies? Hey….at least warn folks so we bring everything, as shopping in Gualala is not what one wants to do. I kind of put it on Vacasa, and it seems like an institutional failure. But even so, Sea Ranch is crazy good so what are you going to do? PS - the door to the hot tub will auto lock you out of the house - very scary if you cannot climb the 8’ wall.

Everything you need!

We had an awesome time here. The home was perfect for this remote location, quiet and peaceful, while being centrally located to golf, hiking, and services like; restaurants groceries, shops, and gas. This home was equipped with al the essentials to cook and be self-contained in a roomy pleasant environment as well.

Beautiful vacation house on a spacious lot.

Thank you for the wonderful accommodations. We enjoyed watching the wildlife (turkeys, deer, fox) wander through the yard. The secluded hottub was amazing. We made several short day trips (San Francisco, Sonoma Valley, exploring the coastal beaches, Gualala). A beautiful area and a highly recommended place to stay.

No instructions

Usually there is a notebook with instructions, how to use tv, checkout procedures, etc. None here . Many great things, comfortable, clean, and quiet. A few upgrades, better shade to block sun so tv can be used in daytime, kitchen needs silverware for adults and pan for roasting or baked dishes. We noticed broken locking handles on lower windows.

Perfect house in Sea Ranch

We stayed at Casa Contenta for 4 nights in April. The house is big and beautiful, very well equipped and the location is great. We have small children and the house was great for them too (we just blocked the stairs with the coffee table) and there is a playground right across the street from the house which was awesome! Vacasa was very good at communicating and we had no trouble getting into the house or retrieving our welcome packet. Hot tub was also great. We were very happy with our stay and would highly recommend Casa Contenta if you’re looking to stay in Sea Ranch!

Lovely home near the ocean

We had a lovely, relaxing stay at this sea ranch home. Clean. Large bedrooms. Short walk/drive to the ocean. Hot tub was very nice and we enjoyed good views of nature from the living/dining area : saw deer, quail, turkey, and a coyote from the comfort of the living room at dawn and dusk!

Not so happy time

Filthy, Filthy dishes. Oven dirty too. Oney one roll of paper towels. Dishwasher didn't work well enough to clean dishes properly. Those were things we could deal with. However although it says space heaters and fireplace. the space heaters are in the bedrooms not upstairs. Only a fireplace upstairs. There was very little wood there to use and as an 81 year old woman with a husband who has breathing issues, I didn't want to go up and down for wood. I did go to the store and buy firelogs but they didn't keep the living room and kitchen without a chill. We have rented in Sea Ranch before and had a lovely time with well stocked, clean homes. We chose this one because it said ocean view. It did have enough ocean in the distance to make that not a lie but it was very little ocean. We finally left one day early. I don't like to sound like a complainer but we go to get away from "it all" and do expect to be made to feel as if we are important to the owners. We certainly didn't feel that way. I have no problems with Vacassa as they did their job (aside from the cleaning) but will be much more cautious the next time we come to Sea Ranch. One more thing, we have been coming to that area for over 30 years and love being there. This house wasn't horrible, I want to make that clear and may be perfect for people in different situations than ours.

Great place away from the city

Wonderful, spacious, clean, bright, and private family getaway near the ocean, forest, meadows, and state park. After walking the trails, seeing the sights, or visiting the nearby town of Gualala, you can take a dip in the community pool, soak in the backyard hot tub, or just lounge around. The deer, birds, & sheep were bonuses. One point for improvement is the electric sockets. Most were very loose which made charging and plugging in devices/appliances difficult (potential electrical hazard & cause for circuit tripping).
