One of the Worst Hotel Experiences I’ve Ever Had
I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience at Riu Bambu was so disappointing that I feel compelled to share.
From the moment I checked in, I could tell this was not going to be a relaxing stay. The room immediately gave Motel 6 vibes—and while I wasn’t expecting a five-star luxury resort, I did expect basic cleanliness and working amenities, especially given the price I paid.
The issues started immediately:
The room’s electrical system was a mess. One single light switch controlled all the lights, the AC, the TV, and even the electrical outlets—including the one I needed for my phone charger. The over-the-sink light couldn’t be turned off unless I also turned off the AC. This meant I either had to sleep with all the lights on or sweat through the night without air conditioning. I brought this to the staff’s attention, but nothing was done.
Then came the shower disaster. After a short shower, the drainage clearly wasn’t working. I stepped out to find that half of my room was flooded. Upon closer inspection, I found a hole at the bottom corner of the shower, which caused the water to spill out everywhere.
I truly tried to make the best of it without complaining, but it became completely unbearable. The constant battle between being drenched in sweat or being blinded by the lights while trying to sleep ruined any chance of rest or relaxation.
