「It was very clean, easy to find and very very quiet. The service was excellent and there were many extra surprises ( firewood, ingredients for s’mores, a lantern) it was a wonderful stay 」
「We really enjoyed the whole vibe. The bar was a bit pricey, but has an amazing feel. It served us very well as a home base in our stay in Galena, and had us within short drives to all the places we wanted to visit. Potosi, Dubuque, Effegy Mounds and of course downtown Galena. 」
「Hotel Julien was all we hoped it would be in a downtown historic property. It was clean, well appointed and perfectly located for walking in the city. 」
「A really nice updated property. Rooms was spacious and bed was comfortable. We had a whirlpool suite and we enjoyed it. Really nice large pool area. Breakfast was good and they changed items daily. Would recommend!」
「We came into Galena for a get-away from the city and wanted to stay somewhere close to the main thoroughfare. Hotel Galena did not disappoint. The building and the grounds are charming, Denise and Nate were so so nice and helpful.
We stayed in #7 (one of the suites) and the jetted bathtub was divine; soothing and against the brick of the 1856 building and stained glass window…it was the best of the past and present.
Overall, worth the price and such a charming way to relax in a charming town. 」
「We went in August. The alpine slide, zipline, mountain biking are all right outside the property. We bought the tickets at the property itself (not upfront online). There wasn’t much difference between the onsite price and the online price. Monday through Thursday, they have an unlimited alpine slide pass, which would be nice to get if you are there during those days of the week.
I know some people have commented that this property “badly needs renovation”. I don’t necessarily agree with that....
