3/5 - Okay
More economical to stay and take transportation into NY City than to stay downtown. Parking was also much easier.

Save a lot of money by staying out side of NYC with a short 8 min drive.
The are is up and coming. Plenty off great Latin-American and Caribbean restaurants with great food, drink and music. We went to Rumba Cubana which had a native Cuban preparing top notch monitors, to Latin music upstairs. Great views of NYC.
I felt very safe
actually we just came late daily but I would say it is a quiet place to live ,to crowded and expensive but it was a good journey enjoying it with our siblings
It is a very quiet neighborhood.
