5/5 - Excellent
There are basically three restaurants: The one in The Park Hotel Ruapehu, one pub across the street (great place), and the restaurant inside the train station a 10 minute walk west.

Room is very small

The staff were very nice and even gave me a trail recommendation given we could not do the alpine crossing as planned that day! The unit was very clean and cozy and had exactly what was needed for a comfortable stay. The location was great, only 15 minute drive from the national park visitor center. ...

Clean room and bathrooms. Overall great facility!! John drove us to the Alpine crossing and gave us a walkthrough of the history behind the tongariro national park and safety tips for the hike. We had a great experience. Thank you John.

We’ve had the best time at Alpine Chalets. Amazing hospitality from the staff, the rooms are clean, tidy and very modern. The views were spectacular of the mountains! Highly recommend, will definitely be back :)

Was so nice to stay in a warm comfortable space rather than a pokey little hotel room.

Explore the great outdoors at Marton Sash and Door Cycling Park, a lovely green space in National Park Village. Discover the area's mountain views and restaurants.

Nice quiet ski village. Easy to drive or walk around. Had some cafes and restaurants open and even a mini-Golf course.
Crossing is why you go...couple of reasonable restaurants etc. but pretty isolated otherwise. No real grocery store.
Nice Cafe but not much going on.
Ski-biz shop/rental excellent service for skiing and walking boots
Quaint place to stay, handy to lots of outdoor things to do. Would highly recommend a visit
