The host family was welcoming and charming. The breakfast was delicious and filling. I appreciated being picked up at the train station when first arriving. All for an affordable price.

We had a pleasant stay, Yoshi was amazing! Always a smiling face and ever happy to assist where she could.
The location is a short 10min walk to Echoland Main Street, great for food and drinks (but be prepared to wait for a dinner sitting). It is a short walk to the shuttle bus stops to get on snow, but unfortunately they don’t open breakfast until 0730 and if everyone comes down at the same time you’ll be pressed to get your breakfast in time to catch the first shuttle (you can just have toast and a coffee if you get stuck).
We requested a queen bed, but got given two singles and the room is quite small. However the heating works well and it had everything we needed.
I emailed Rob to ask the best way to get to the hotel from the train station and was informed we would be picked up. Unfortunately although I emailed a couple days prior updating on our arrival time at the train station, he never replied and turned up at the station 50minutes after we arrived (at the time the busiest train arrived with most of the crowds).
Rob was unable to take us to the train station for our departure but Yoshi was helpful in calling a taxi the night before.
We had a great stay here! The hosts are so nice and accommodating. The rooms are small, but cozy. Our only small complaint is the ski storage room is small and the rooms could use more hooks to dry out gear overnight.
Lovely cosy stay with friendly hosts. Just what i was looking for. A short walk to bus stop to the resorts and a short walk to an Onsen after a long day of skiing. Restaurants just down the road in Echoland. an excellent full breakfast provided every morning. A great options for solos travellers or groups for sure
The property's only a 3 min walk from the closest bus stop (Goryu Hondinirichi) for the snow shuttles, or a 5 min walk to the next closest (Hotel Oak Forest) which operates a few extra shuttles. Also only a 5 min walk to the main strip in Echoland which has a bunch of bars & restaurants.
The hosts Yoshi & Rob were super helpful and friendly. Picked us up from Hakuba Station when we arrived and dropped us off at Happo Bus Terminal when we left. Also gave us a lift to the bus station on a separate day when we needed.
No complaints about the room. It's very standard but had all the basics that we needed. Heater worked well, we were never cold. There's a small drying rack for hanging some of your clothes which was handy. Bathroom was small but not too small. Shower water pressure was good and didn't have any issues with hot water. There is no fridge in the room, we left whatever we needed to keep cold (yoghurts, beers etc) on the outer windowsill and that was totally fine!
The drying room for all your snow gear works well. It's small and can get crowded when there's a lot of guests but our stuff was always dry by morning and that's what matters.
The free breakfast was very basic but more than sufficient to get you through until lunch time. The cooked option was between either bacon, sausage, mushroom & scrambled egg or a vegetarian option which substitutes the meat for avocado. Both very small but you can also help yourself to the standard cereal, toast, juice, coffee & tea.
Wonderful hosts and comfortable, friendly lodgings
Our stay at Chateau Lausanne was one of those lovely experiences that help to cement fond memories of a holiday/travel. Comfortable and clean lodgings, hosts Rob and Yoshi were warm, friendly, relaxed but always professional and accommodating. Great location, close enough to walk to plenty of bars and restaurants and shuttle bus stops, but serene at night, away from the hustle and bustle of a busy ski town. If we make it back to Hakuba, we know where we'll stay.
we had a wonderful holiday at the Chateau Lausanne thanks to the hosts Rob and Yoshi and their lovely family. The hotel was in a convenient location for the shuttle buses to the slopes and in the pretty snowy lanes of Ecoland.
The room was clean and comfortable and we enjoyed the breakfast either continental or cooked to order each day.
