"We loved this place. Gorgeous views of the bay, delightful staff and fellow guests, elegant holiday atmosphere. The room is spacious and stylish; the breakfast option is really good. Local organic farms abound, and the train ride into Shimabara is like a step back in time. The hotel is a short walk from the train station, and a convenient city bus goes to the historic volcano site, which is very compelling and informative. An hourly ferry goes to Kumamoto for connection with high speed trains. Not to be missed."

"The property was super old. There was nobody who could speak English at the property. The hotel was located fairly close by the Omuta train station, and there were good amount of restaurants to choose from. You'd have to go on the other side of the station to give them, though."

"One of our bed has several bugs, some crawling, some jumping (probably fleas) which is really scary…. We immediately called the front desk and they did help us swap the room but we already opened the luggage and settled down a little and that was already 10pm, they didn’t allow us to check out a bit later to compensate the time consumed because of this. And although we changed to another room, didn’t feel super comfy that night staying with the hotel, definitely will NOT come back again "

"Great stay despite the horrendous weather. Hotel's 30min walk from the station in a nice/quiet area (10min bus ride). Spacious, clean room and very good breakfast. Bit pricy but this was GW. Good restos within a walking distance."
