Our experience with Shangri La Mactan had very Amazing experiences and also very Terrible experiences. To begin with, the F&B team in Shangri La Mactan is FANTASTIC and TOP NOTCH. Being Muslims. we were so afraid of the meals and if the hotel could give us Halal meals. But the hotel's Muslim Chef made sure of this and all the staff also took special care of our request and could even remember our room number and would immediately call the chef down. Chef Rizki and Chef Jithen took turns to take very good care of our food and it was certainly great standard of service. However, our air-condition was faulty in the room and the front desk did take a while to rectify the situation before giving us a new room and this meant we spent 3 nights in misery. Sometimes, facilities cannot be 100% and we did understand the situation. But paying so much and losing 3 nights was certainly wasteful and we requested for an extended night complimentary while we were willing to pay a token price and also for our flight extension (means we need to pay for 2 one way flight in addition). The front desk Manager was not helpful and the staff also seemed to blame us as they claimed the air condition was working. This was not a good experience at all and we were not offered the due compensation. However, the GM did contact us, investigated and apologised after our return to Singapore. We are glad someone stepped in to address our concerns. This service is commendable. The spa was fantastic too.
