8.4/10 Very Good! (1,006 reviews)
The 3rd floor hallway was trash filled. The bedroom smelled of burnt sheets from the dryer. A bin of trash was by the elevators for half a day but it was removed sometime overnight. When it was mentioned that the hallways were messy we were told that help was hard to find, If they can't keep the building clean because of help they should close down until they can find the help.

8.8/10 Excellent! (1,061 reviews)
The Hampton Inn and suites downtown Albany was listed with a rating over eight. However, that was not indicative of my experience whatsoever. Let’s start with the pros – the bathrooms and the floors were clearly updated and renovated. Both were clean, functional, aesthetically pleasing, and well situated. The next pro was the bed. Fairly comfortable, clean and again well situated. As far as pros are concerned, that is the end of my list. Now let’s talk about the problems. The front desk – the woman I spoke with was attentive, knowledgeable, and able to help me to prepare for my stay. However, the gentleman working at the front desk, the evening I arrived had myself and two other people waiting at the front door for what had to be 10 to 15 minutes before we were even let into the lobby. Once in the lobby, we were then made to wait as he fraternized with what could have been a customer or his good buddy…? Another 20 minutes. During that 20 minutes, I used the lobby bathroom, which was absolutely filthy and smelled like a sewer. I really do wish I was exaggerating. I finally made up to the room only to discover that the thermostat that is on the wall is a mere decoration, and not a functional part of the room. My room remained at a balmy 75-77 degrees the entirety of my stay. Now, in most instances, I would’ve just phoned the front desk. I actually did that, seven times and no one answered the phone and it rang repeatedly. Stay here ONLY if you absolutely must, other places near

9.2/10 Wonderful! (1,834 reviews)
We have stayed here many times, actually we were one of the first guests 3 years ago when they opened. It is perfect as a halfway from our home and our daughters school. We have always been super impressed with this hotel, this time we were disappointed. When getting the sofa bed set up for our daughter, we noticed that the sheets and blankets were still on the bed from the previous person. EW! so my daughter just slept on the small couch, not so comfortable. The toilet was also broken. We arrived late around 7pm checked in, went next store to eat and then up to bed as we were leaving at 6:30am. Told front desk about the toilet and bed and they said "oh sorry!" Not really the level of service we have been used to.
