Jasper National Park

Jasper National Park which includes mountains, a river or creek and tranquil scenes
This quaint mountain town is the perfect base for outdoor activities and a peaceful place to stay while visiting the Canadian Rocky Mountains.

The town of Jasper lies in the heart of Jasper National Park in Alberta, Canada. Many visitors to the Canadian Rockies choose this rustic alpine village as their base, making use of the wide range of accommodation and dining options. Even if you are just passing through, you will find enough activities to keep you busy for the day.

Many of the natural attractions that draw the biggest crowds are just a short drive away. Athabasca and Tangle falls and Medicine and Patricia lakes are all popular day trips. Go rafting or hiking in Maligne Canyon, climb Mount Edith Cavell or take the Jasper aerial tramway for a great view of the town, several mountain ranges and glacial lakes. Drive the awe-inspiring Icefields Parkway to Banff and see the glacier-rich Columbia Icefield on your way.

In the freezing winter, when the snow settles, some attractions become inaccessible and this is when winter-sports enthusiasts flock to the town. Enjoy activities such as skiing in Marmot Basin and skating over the lakes. Warm up by the fireplace in one of Japser’s many cafés at the end of the day.

Jasper is half a day’s drive away from Edmonton and Calgary and shuttle buses operate from their airports. During peak season, the population of Jasper swells from fewer than 5,000 residents to about 30,000 vacationers and seasonal workers.

Summer is by far the most popular time to visit and between April and September Jasper is in full swing. There are plenty of organized tours to choose from.To discover all your options, head to the Jasper Park Information Centre. While you’re in town learn more about the local history in the Jasper-Yellowhead Museum and Archives.

If you love nature, Jasper is a dream location, perfect for unwinding after your outdoor adventures in the wilderness of the Canadian Rockies.
