"It's seen better days. Quality of the meals was disappointing. Room was spacious and clean but the property in general is tired and needs upgrading. It's a bit on the outskirts of the main part of Yamashiro Onsen but there's a bus stop across the street if you want to get into town. We took it to get to Yamanaka Onsen and to Kakusenkei Gorge."

"The picture, the huge crab aquarium at the entrance, the crab marking on the room numbers tell it all, this is a Ryokan for eating really good crab. Sakai, is a far place, and it is pretty old and run down, but it would all be worth it for the crab. So you can imagine my surprise when I learned that despite it being crab season my dinner doesn't have any crab. "I booked this hotel mainly for its airport shuttle. Even though there’s only one to the airport in the morning, they went above and beyond to help and accommodate me. The room was massive and provided absolutely lovely views. I do have tattoos so they had to be covered when entering the bath. The building is old and smells of moisture, which I think comes with running an onsen. Overall, I enjoyed my stay very much. "

"An amazing place and experience. We had private indoor and outdoor onsen in the room and used it a few times as it was really convenient. Our hosts for the two nights, Natalie and Mizu, were extremely helpful and friendly. The meals, all in a private room, were excellent and gave us an authentic experience of Japanese breakfast and dinner cuisines. "

Tasteless and poorly prepared. Like it came from the fridge to perhaps the microwave in some cases and then to our table. "This was my first time to stay in a Ryokan (traditional Japanese inn) and I really like it! The hotel was a bit old but still in good condition. They have indoor & outdoor hotspring pool plus many other facilities for you to enjoy during your stay. Buffet breakfast & dinner both were great too. Free shuttle service available too to pick up from/drop off to Kagaonsen station. Thumb up!"

"Our experience was lovely! We stayed two nights. The staff was so accomodating--it was our first experience at a traditional ryokan, and the staff was very helpful in explaining various customs. They made us feel very at home. The free shuttle to and from the station was very convenient and easy to reserve. "Soaking bath was disappointing and was not the same as pictured on website. I booked the room for 2 adults and 2 children with meals but our kids had no breakfast or dinner. No bedding was included for them either."
