A beautiful place and a real honour to stay here as a westerner. Robes and amenities were provided and the baths were excellent including an outdoor area. Very helpful and friendly staff made us feel welcomed. There was even a mini stamp rally around the building which was great for us and our teen child to explore. The building interior was like a maze with beautiful objects and resting places all around and overlooking the garden.
Everything was just outstanding. The place is beautiful, the onsen, garden and more. The service was amazing, 11/10. It was a magical stay that really exceeded our expectations.
We were blown away by how unique the whole experience was and how hospitable the hotel staff was. We were given slippers and traditional robes when we arrived and our luggage was carried to the room for us. Our room was very quaint with a whole tea setup prepared at the table. The dinner was an incredible, elaborate experience that we werenโt expecting. The gardens were beautiful and the hot springs were so relaxing.
Our room was amazing. We loved having our private onsen, and took every opportunity to use it to relax and rejuvenate our bodies. Both of us felt very taken care of, and it was the highlight of our Japan trip. It was nice to be able to slow down and recuperate.
That being said. If you have an allergy to a certain food, make sure you let them know in advance so they can prepare your breakfast properly (they start preparing breakfast the day before, so if you didn't tell them in advance, they can't change it).
Our experience was lovely! We stayed two nights. The staff was so accomodating--it was our first experience at a traditional ryokan, and the staff was very helpful in explaining various customs. They made us feel very at home. The free shuttle to and from the station was very convenient and easy to reserve. The check-in and check-out processes were easy and pleasant as well, with matcha and sweets provided at check-in as an opportunity to rest and look out on the garden. Our room was gorgeous, with a stunning view of the mountains, and sleeping on the tatami was extremely comfortable. We reserved the private onsen both nights of our stay (for a small fee) and that was also a simple and convenient process. Finally, breakfast was amazing--all of the numerous dishes were delicious and beautifully prepared.
Overall, it was a truly magical experience staying at Houshi Ryokan. We left this morning and already want to go back! ใใใใจใใใใใพใใ!
