"You need to understand what is a capsule hotel. Even though it looks a bit weird, it does exactly what it is made for. Giving you a place to sleep, dry and clean. The commodities are shared by all the customers, so you have to expect some flaws. Not because of the staff… they were always vacuuming the carpet and answering all the customers but this place bring a lot of weird persons and some don’t clean after them. I really enjoyed that place."

"Cozy as a capsule hotel (which it was). The capsule was on the warm side (where I prefer it cooler), but the bed and pillow were hugely comfortable, the amenities (toilet, vending machines, walls of manga) were great and the staff was helpful and friendly and put up with my broken Japanese. I took a taxi there, but it turns out there's a free shuttle from Terminals 2 and 3 of Narita. (I was in Terminal 1 and Expedia didn't mention this, so I didn't know about it until I was there.) The next...

"Most everything in the hotel was a bit cramped, but that's a capsule hotel for you, I suppose. The staff was lovely, the bedding was quite comfortable and there was a TV in the capsule that I could plug my Switch into. The lounge area was a nice place to sit and watch TV while I microwaved the bentos that I bought at the nearby Kita-Senju station, which were surprisingly filling and tasty. All in all, well worth the $20-something (USD) a night that I paid."

1 Night 1980 Hostel Tokyo
1.5 star property
8.2 out of 10, Very Good, (424)
"1 Night ¥1980 Hotel is everything you could ask for and more out of a hotel with the lower nightly rate you pay. The staff were very friendly and accommodating (coming from someone who doesn’t speak nearly any Japanese). The dorm areas had cleaning staff going through everyday ensuring garbages were emptied, bathrooms, floors, etc.., were clean. Only a 5 minutes walk to Iriya station so very easy to get around Tokyo. I had no troubles with noise from other guests, everyone was very respectful...

"Without Google Maps would never have found it. No English signage, entrance looks more like an apartment, entrance in an alley, and front desk is on the top floor. You enter through 2 glass doors into a tiny lobby with 1 elevator with 1 floor button (6). Take shoes off shortly after elevator to arrive at the front desk. NO ENGLISH. Small capsules, noisy at times, and small lockers. On the plus side, nice hot tubs and sauna and bathing area with all toiletries supplied. Not meant for...
