The Francis Marion Hotel

"We liked being in downtown Charleston and the hotel’s historic charm. The rooms were nice and the hotel offered early check in early which was great. I did not like having a rooftop bar 1/2 block away. We were able to sleep, however you could still hear the music from the 6th floor. I also would have liked for the hotel to have a pool or outdoor area. Regardless, if you’re wanting to stay in the downtown area, it’s a great option, very central and close to restaurants, stores and bars."

"The Inn is beautiful and in the perfect location. The check in staff was very friendly but didn’t not provide accurate details concerning the parking garage. The night staff person seemed to have an issue with my son asking a question about it. It turned into an exchange of words and the staff person following him outside. My son is a 30 year old man, not a college kid. The morning manager didn’t seem interested in listening to my side of the story, only defending his employee. Feel slightly discriminated against as if confusion of age and social status played a part in this. This will probably be a reason not to return."

"The room had a school vibe with modern amenities. It was clean. I loved that it was center to everything we wanted to do. The Charleston Market is literally across the street and the French Quarter is within minutes of walking. The breakfast, afternoon wine and cheese, and cookies at night was a special touch. "We really enjoyed our stay at The Ryder Hotel! The location is fantastic and perfect for exploring Charleston, and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The amenities were also great and the overall atmosphere was fun and welcoming. That said, our room was very small, and being located directly next to the elevator made it a bit less comfortable than we would have liked. Overall, though, the great location, friendly service, and amenities made for a nice stay."

"Our first visit to Charleston was made even more special by our stay at The Restoration. From the moment we arrived, the staff’s genuine hospitality made all the difference. A special thank you to LaSharra at the front desk and Matt, the guest curator. They were welcoming and inviting, and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. Traveling with our baby daughter, we especially appreciated having a crib ready for her in our room and all the thoughtful touches that made our stay comfortable and easy like the breakfast basket each morning. We even had an issue with our rental car and they handled that so professionally. The accommodations were clean, spacious, beautiful, and felt like the perfect place to relax after exploring the city. And the location couldn’t be better! Being right in the heart of Charleston made it easy to walk to shops, restaurants, the water, and so many of the city’s activities. The Restoration was the perfect introduction to Charleston, and we will definitely be back!"
