Kasuitei Ohya

Kasuitei Ohya

10/10 Excellent
"We stayed one night at Kasuitei Ooya, and it turned out to be the highlight of our time in Japan. The ryokan gets the traditional experience right without it feeling staged — tatami rooms, yukata, and a real sense of care in everything. Our room had a lake view and a private bath, which our teenagers enjoyed as much as we did. The kaiseki dinner was outstanding: beautifully presented course after course with local ingredients we didn't see anywhere else on the trip, and breakfast the next morning was just as good. The onsen is on the 7th floor, and the same floor has a viewing area where we caught the clearest Mt Fuji view of our stay at sunrise. What tied it all together was the staff. From check-in through to the shuttle back to the station, they were warm, unhurried, and seemed to anticipate what we needed before we asked. If you're deciding whether to build a ryokan night into a Japan trip, this is the place to do it."

HaoSTAY

8/10 Good
"The hotel was relatively modern, kept in good order and had a lovely rooftop deck. The staff were very kind and it was very convenient that they spoke English which I wasn't necessarily expecting. They didn't include many amenities in the room and there was no place to get amenities except at the front desk which was closed in the late evening and early morning. It would be nice if they maybe had a little amenities counter that they left out overnight because I didn't investigate which amenities were included in the room until after the desk was closed and then I needed some things that I couldn't get. I appreciate it that breakfast was included but there were very limited options that were preset and you had to schedule your meal time ahead of time which I found kind of stressful. But that might also just be a cultural difference. I think it would be more friendly to different dietary restrictions and perhaps less logistically difficult if they just had a few self service items people could course from. They were willing to accommodate my food issues which was appreciated. These are minor issues that were really more about my personal preference than anything else. It also did seem a little more pricey than other similar properties I stayed at in the area. Although the rooms were a little larger and the property was a little more updated. It's a lovely property and staff were great. Totally a fine place to stay in the area especially if you don't have my same preferences."

"I recently spent five days at SORANO HOTEL, and the entire experience was outstanding from start to finish. From the moment I arrived, the hospitality stood out. The team delivered a warm, attentive welcome that set the tone for the entire visit. Throughout my stay, the staff remained exceptionally professional, accommodating, and detail-oriented. The accommodations exceeded expectations. The room was spacious, beautifully designed, and impeccably maintained, with bedding that was remarkably comfortable and made for a truly restful stay. Beyond the room, the hotel’s amenities and wellness facilities are top-tier. Breakfast each morning was excellent, offering high-quality selections that were consistently fresh and well-prepared. Highland Resort Hotel & Spa

Highland Resort Hotel & Spa

10/10 Excellent
"We chose the hotel as we wanted to visit the Fuji-q highland theme park. It’s a perfect location for this, right next door. Checkin was straight forward. Room was nice and clean, good shower and toiletries. Room had a view into the theme park. Ate breakfast and dinner in hotel, both were good. Lots of choice and reasonably priced. The breakfast room had an excellent view of Mt Fuji on clear days. The hotel also has a free bus outside to get to other locations. We used it to get to the lake and ropeway area. The bus took us to the station where we joined the hop on / off bus lines."
