Very convenient to the airport. Staff were very helpful and room service was available despite the late hour. It’s right next door to The Pullman where the gym and pool are located which you can use if you’re a Novotel guest.

10 mins walk to Airport Terminal 1

The hotel is directly opposite Baiyun Airport Terminal 1. It is a non-smoking hotel. International flight is at Terminal 2. There is a shuttle service starting at 0500 I think, and at every XX25 and XX50 after. The shuttle goes from Novotel to Pullman and then to T2. For smokers, I recommend you take the 2nd floor room, near to RM520X. The smoking point is just on the bridge linking Pullman and Novotel, but the side on Pullman cannot be opened from the outside. The breakfast is so-so. If you can skip it, there are better options in the airport. It is about 10mins walk to Terminal 1. I dont remember you have to carry your luggage up any stairs, there are escalators. To walk to T1, you will need to go down to the ground floor of Novotel, walk to Pullman and go up to the 3rd floor and exit from there. You can see the airport from there onwards. Sorry i didnt take any pictures of the room but it was for 1 night stay facing the runway but it was quiet.

I stayed for 1 night in transit. Overall the hotel is great. My room was large and luxurious, with everything and more you could hope for. Breakfast was also plentiful with Western and Eastern options. Overall staff couldn’t do enough to help, however English was only spoken by a few of the team, but we got by. The dinner experience was interesting, as was the food, but adequate for a layover. The Pullman next door may be a better option for dinner and it’s an easy walk. Re: the shuttle from the airport: You can walk to/from Terminal 1 through the Pullman Hotel, however must take the free shuttle to/from Terminal 2. It’s every 30 mins which is easy enough from the hotel when you know the times, but may result in a bit of a wait from the airport (outside in the very humid weather!). But it is only a few mins once you’re on it and it leaves, Overall it’s a good hotel. The pool and gym, shared by and located at the connecting Pullman, looked big and inviting however it was so humid, I’m not sure how refreshing it would be being outdoors! But I would stay here again, very inexpensive and a great option if laying over a number of hours. As an Aussie passport holder, you don’t need a visa to transit either and just follow the signs for Foreign Passports (not transit passengers) to depart the airport which was very easy.
