This diverse suburban area is packed with surprises, from Revolutionary War sites to views of the New York City skyline.

Just a short drive from America’s biggest city, you’ll find Fort Lee, a very charming suburban area. Fort Lee occupies the space between New York City and Paramus in the sprawling New Jersey suburbs. Known for its cultural diversity, Fort Lee has been shaped by years of immigration that has diversified its cuisine and customs, giving it a pleasant local flair.

The town is built on its historic foundation, playing a crucial role during the American Revolutionary War. Explore the compact center of town on foot or discover the stunning views from the bank of the Hudson River on the edge of the city.

Most of Fort Lee’s major attractions can be found in a four-block radius, making it the perfect destination to navigate on foot. Head to Main Street to find most of the city’s shopping. Browse through local boutiques, traditional delis and major fashion outlets as you stroll down the street.

Continue exploring on foot to find the city’s diverse range of restaurants. A large Korean community has brought authentic dishes to the city, while plenty of traditional pizzerias, late-night diners and “mom and pop” burger spots can be found in the center of town.

Take a short walk to the eastern edge of town to visit the Fort Lee Historic Park. Perched on the edge of the Hudson River, and with sweeping views of the George Washington Bridge and the New York City skyline, the park is a great place to watch historic reenactments. Hear the story of George Washington’s evacuation in 1776 and of the role the town played during the American Revolutionary War.

Catch a train, bus or taxi from New York City and its international airports to reach Fort Lee. New Jersey’s Newark airport is convenient and a great place to rent a car so you can discover more of New Jersey during your stay.

Where to stay in Fort Lee

Banana pancakes and bacon. The pancakes are exceptionally fluffy and they ask how you want your bacon cooked. Crispy...always crispy. A great cup of coffee too. Tip: you can order a half order of the pancakes.

Koreatown

Though Koreatown might not have many top sights, you can venture to the surrounding area to see attractions like Fort Lee Public Library and Fort Lee Borough Hall.
