Lara was such a gracious host and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! I would recommend this place for easy access to downtown Florence while staying in a quiet and clean space!
Lara was a fantastic host at Il Grillo di Firenze! She was the kindest and most caring person we dealt with on our entire trip to Italy. She immediately made us feel welcome and comfortable, and gave us a map with all the best locations to visit in Florence. The room was very clean and had everything we needed. The only downside of this property is that it is slightly far from the main downtown area of Florence. However, there is a tram that will take you directly to the area in about 10 minutes. Thank you for everything Lara!
This was a perfect stay for our one night in Florence. The host was lovely, and took good care of us. There was a small issue with making payment by credit card due to internet connection, but it was worked out.
Great B&B in a beautiful area of Florence, close to downtown and at a walkable distance from a Mall and the University.
Lara and Lorenzo go above and beyond to make you feel at home. Lara even prepared us takeout breakfast when we had to leave before breakfast time!
It was my first time staying at a B&B and I was not disappointed.
Thanks guys for your hospitality!
My son and I really enjoyed our stay at the B&B. The owners go out of their way to help. We arrived late and they were there. We wanted to go to Mass and the owner called the church for me to check the times of service. Taking the tram into the city center is a short walk and an easy experience. Overall a great experience.
Lorenzo and his wife Lara are amazing hosts. They give you an explanation of the city, the best ways to get around, and the best ways to save money.
By the end of my one night / two day stay, they had me getting around Firenze like a local.
They provided a delicious breakfast in the morning, which I enjoyed on the terrace with the beautiful Florentine cityscape around it.
The room was functional, clean, and surprisingly spacious for my needs.
Oh and the air conditioning on the property (and the rooms) works fantastic.
Stay here if you get the opportunity!
Spacious, clean room with a.shared balcony. Bathroom was small especially the shower stall. It will be challenging if you’re over 6 feet and 200 pounds - although not the smallest I’ve encountered in Italy. Location is in a quiet neighborhood about 4-5 tram stops (only 10 min) from the main train station - not walking distance to any tourist sites. B&B only has 4-5 rooms so breakfast is continental. Staff was friendly and helpful. Overall a good value, especially if you want to be a bit away from the hordes of tourists.
Il Grillo is conveniently close to a tram stop to the city, being just far enough away to escape the hustle of central Florence.
The breakfast available is more than enough, with very good coffee.
The balcony had great views of the mountains, a lovely spot for an evening sit.
The room was large enough for four people and the windows were soundproofed from the streets outside.
Lara and Lorenzo were perfect hosts and very easy to chat with. They had lots of advice regarding the local area and how best to navigate around the city. They both clearly have a passion for ensuring their guests feel comfortable and at home.
Thank you for a lovely stay and also for the wonderful leather bound books given as gifts!
A last little touch, we had to leave for an early train on our final day, the hosts went out of their way to ensure that we had a packed breakfast box to take with us, a lovely gesture which we appreciated greatly.
I arrived to the B&B by tram from the Airport and Lorenzo helped me with Directions. I had a warm welcome from him as well. I only stayed one night, but the vibes and hospitality make me wish I stayed longer.
I had forgotten a few things and I was able to grab it from a shop right downstairs. Which had from toiletries to shoes and snacks.
I feel silly that Lorenzo's wife's name is escaping my memory as she was a delight to me on the second day. After checking-out, I had a remote work meeting and she let me take it on the premises before going on with my adventure. Breakfast was great, with plenty of wonderful quick options. I only had a coffee and a banana as I often skip breakfast, but there were plenty of great options to get you going for the day.
Thank you for such incredible hospitality in such a great space. I will be back.
Lara and Lorenzo are ideally suited to run a B&B. They are friendly, caring and eager to provide excellent service. Lorenzo greeted us at check-in and spent a good chunk of time orienting us to the property and providing us with a map of Florence, including a comprehensive list of the opening/closing times of churches, museums, and other historical sites in the city.
On alternating days, they prepared breakfast paninis for us. A table of yogurts, breads, fruit, snacks and granola offered lots of choice. Two cappuccinos each day for my wife got her motor running in preparation for our days exploring Firenze. They engaged in lively conversation with all occupants and made us feel at home. The elevator alone is worth checking out.
The B&B is only a couple of minutes walk from the T2 tram which takes you to the rail station and onward into the city. Not many restaurants in the area - go to the center of the city for much more selection, but MAKE RESERVATIONS.
If you're looking for a very central and comfortable place to recharge after checking out Florence, Il Grillo di Firenze is the place for you. Many thanks to Lara and Lorenzo for making us feel welcome and giving us some lasting memories.
Stay was wonderful with great host. Was a little apprehensive about the elevator but, small elevators are the norm in Italy. This one was just a bit smaller.
Lara, the owner greeted us on our arrival with a big smile that radiated warmth. The breakfast was a continental style with a ham and cheese panini. We enjoyed her company and that she was always there to answer questions and make suggestions. We stayed 12 great days.
