「We stayed three nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our room was on the 8th floor and was more a suite than a room. It comprised a king size bed, large couch, table for two and a bathroom. This room also had the added benefit of a private terrace/garden with river views. Quality of fitout was of a high standard and also included were robes and slippers. 「Beautiful hotel with a feeling and touch of a hunting lodge! Located on the hill above the town of Regua. It has a grand view over Douro and the vineyards on the other side of the river. Excellent service and the place to be for a romantic stay in Regua! 」

「I've posted elsewhere that we stayed at wonderful hotels in Portugal. The "stories" were about reaching them and trying to park at them. The Douro Castelo experience was our worst! We used GPS to find the hotel. Made the mistake of making the last turn! The hotel was only feet from the last intersection. 「Very good hotel in a superb location with excellent staff. Our only complaint is that it was a bit chilly and there was no heat in the bathroom. This is controlled based on the time of year rather than the temperature.」

「We enjoyed our stay here, and they arranged a wonderful day of wine tasting and a cooking class for us. The things we did not like, though, were that the gym in the basement was very warm, and also the outdoor pool was not open, even though it was quite hot out. The breakfast was nice. There is not much to do in the immediate area, so you would want to have a car, or a driver arranged for your time there. We did not use any of the spa services. They have bikes to use, but we did not inquire...
