The Krujë Castle was the fortress that helped George Kastrioti Skanderbeg defend Albania from the Ottoman troops that attacked it three times, in 1450, 1466 and 1467, but failed each time. Not only did Skanderberg stop the Ottomans from taking control of Albania, but maybe stopped them from controlling all of Europe. The castle museum is one of the better we have visited. Definitely worth the visit and the shopping streets below the castle are a treat to walk through.

Unfortunately, this hotel did not mention that a lot of the facilities were closed to it being off season before we arrived.
